Install on Linux
TinyS3 ships as a single self-contained executable — it bundles its own Java runtime, so there is nothing else to install (no JDK, no package manager). Download it, make it executable, run it.
Quick start (download the executable)
sh
# 1. Download the binary for your architecture (amd64 or arm64) and a starter config
curl -fLo tinys3 https://downloads.totis.dev/tinys3/latest/tinys3-linux-amd64
chmod +x tinys3
curl -fLo config.yaml https://downloads.totis.dev/tinys3/latest/config.example.yaml
# 2. Run it (serves the S3 API on :8000)
./tinys3 server --config config.yamlOn ARM hosts, use tinys3-linux-arm64 instead. Verify the download against the published checksums at https://downloads.totis.dev/tinys3/latest/SHA256SUMS:
sh
curl -fLO https://downloads.totis.dev/tinys3/latest/SHA256SUMS
sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS --ignore-missingEdit config.yaml and change auth.accessKey / auth.secretKey before exposing the server.
Convenience script (optional)
A small script does the download + checksum-verify + install to /usr/local/bin for you. It is a download-then-run script — fetch it, read it, then run it (no piping into a shell):
sh
curl -fLO https://downloads.totis.dev/tinys3/latest/install.sh
less install.sh # have a look first
sh install.sh # installs tinys3 and writes a starter config.yamlRun as a service (systemd)
ini
# /etc/systemd/system/tinys3.service

sudo useradd --system --no-create-home tinys3 || true
sudo mkdir -p /etc/tinys3 && sudo cp config.yaml /etc/tinys3/config.yaml
sudo systemctl enable --now tinys3Alternatives
- JVM distribution — if you already run Java 25, grab
tinys3-1.5.64.tar(or.zip) from the release orhttps://downloads.totis.dev/tinys3/latest/; it has abin/tinys3start script. - Docker — see Docker.
- Zero-config —
./tinys3 server ./datastarts with sane defaults and no config file (prints generated credentials); use the--configpath above for anything real.
